South West Law is seeking to recruit a solicitor / experienced immigration caseworker.

This is an opportunity to work (and live?) in the city which was voted the best place in the UK to live in 2017 and the third best place in the UK to live and work in 2018. More importantly, it is an opportunity to work in an established niche firm in the South West that has diverse clients with interesting cases. We are engaged in advocacy and lobbying work related to immigration issues and are fortunate to work closely with national groups which campaign for EU rights both in the UK and the EU.

We are a small friendly solicitors’ practice in central Bristol specialising in immigration and housing law. We are looking for a solicitor or caseworker who specialises in immigration and nationality law to join our well-regarded and expanding immigration team. You will undertake a full range of immigration and asylum cases at all levels on a privately funded basis along with some legal aid.

Our busy and thriving immigration team currently consists of three solicitors with a wide range of expertise across all areas of immigration and nationality law. You will join a friendly and supportive team who work together collaboratively with excellent client care at the heart of their practice. In addition to managing your own caseload you will be expected to engage in developing and expanding our client base.

You will have at least two years’ experience in immigration, nationality and asylum casework and must have been accredited as a Senior Caseworker /Level 2 Law Society’s Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme (ideally with supervisor status) for at least two years. You must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of legal aid contracts. You will need to be able to deal with a wide range of clients and manage your caseload with minimum supervision. Thorough knowledge and experience of applications under Appendix FM and outside the Rules is essential. An additional language would be desirable.

Salary will depend on experience and skills. Part-time may be considered.

Further details and an application pack are available by emailing helena.peake@southwestlaw.org.uk

Closing date for applications 12 October 2018
